미국 영주권 I-485 신분변경, I-765, I-131 타임라인

제가 미국 영주권을 신청하며 I-485 신분변경 신청서를 비롯한 I-765 노동허가서, I-131 여행허가서의 신청부터 승인까지의 타임라인을 정리해보고자 합니다. 

Timeline

2023/04/13 AM: USPS로 서류패키지 (I-485, I-765, I-131) 전송

2023/04/15 AM: Phoenix, AZ lockbox Package delivered (USPS Tracking으로 확인)

2023/04/18 PM: 크레딧 카드 거래내역에 USCIS PHOENIX LOCKBOX $1225 PENDING으로 떴습니다.

2023/04/20 PM: USCIS로부터 Case Number를 알려주는 문자메시지 3통을 받았습니다.

서류 전송 후, 바로 다음 날 서류가 lockbox에 도착하고, USPS Tracking에서는 이튿날 배달이 확인되었습니다. 닷새째에 크레딧 카드에서 접수비가 빠져나가는 것이 Pending으로 잡혔고, 일주일 후에 USCIS로부터 접수한 세 가지 서류에 대해 케이스번호를 알려주는 문자메시지를 받았습니다.

여기서부터는 USCIS에서 Case Status에서 확인한 내용과 우편물 받은 시점을  I-485, I-765, I-131로 나눠서 써보겠습니다. 

I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status)

소요기간: 5개월 8일 걸렸습니다.

 

2023/04/14: Case Was Received

2023/04/19: Fingerprint Fee Was Received

2023/04/29: I-797C - USCIS가 I-485 신청서 받았다는 Receipt Notice 우편으로 수령 (Notice Date: 04/19/2023) 

2023/05/01: I-797C - ASC Appointment Notice 우편으로 수령 (Biometrics/Type: I-485, I-765/Notice Date: 04/21/2023)

2023/05/12: Biometric Services Appointment 직접 방문해 사진 찍고, 지문 찍음

2023/05/12: Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken

2023/09/08: New Card Is Being Produced

2023/09/13: Case Was Approved

2023/09/15: I-797 - I-485 Approval Notice 우편으로 수령 (Notice Date: 09/10/2023)

2023/09/18: Case was Mailed to Me

2023/09/21: Card Was Delivered To Me By The Post Office

2023/09/22: Permanent Resident 영주권 카드 우편으로 수령 (유효기간 10년)

2023/07/31: I-797 - I-765 Approval Notice 우편으로 수령 (Notice Date 07/26/2023) 

2023/08/02: Card Was Mailed To Me

2023/08/04: Card Was Delivered To Me By The Post Office

2023/08/04: EAD 카드 우편으로 수령 (유효기간 2년)

 

USCIS에서 제 case가 reopen 됐다는 메시지를 봤을 때, 당황스러웠는데 그때 제가 본 Case Status 메시지를 공유합니다. 

 

2023/07/21: Case Was Reopened For Reconsideration

On July 21, 2023, we reopened your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXX40, and are reconsidering our earlier decision. We sent you a notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by August 20, 2023, please go to wwww.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you. Move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

 

2023/07/24 Case Was Reopened

On July 24, 2023, we reopened your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, Receipt Number MSCXXXXXXXX40, and mailed you a notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your reopening notice by August 23, 2023, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

 

저는 영주권을 기다리는 중에 H1B 신청에 들어갔습니다. H1B가 들어간 날짜에 상태가 reopened for reconsideration으로 변경되었습니다. 위 메시지가 뜨고 얼마 지나지 않아 바로 I-765 승인과 EAD 카드 발급이 된 것으로 보아 H1B 신청이 I-765 승인을 앞당긴 것 아닌가 추측해 봅니다. 저와 같은 상황이신 분들은 참조하시면 되겠습니다.

2023/09/13: I-797C - 이미 제출한 Biometrics를 I-131에 사용하겠다는 내용의 Notice 우편으로 수령 (Notice Date 09/01/2023) 

2023/10/10: Case Closed Benefit Received By Other Means

On October 10, 2023, we closed your Form I-131, Application for Travel Document, Receipt Number MSC2390427841, because the applicant or petitioner received a status or benefit through other means. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

 

I-131 승인되기 전에 I-485가 승인되었기에 I-131 신청은 케이스 종료되었습니다. 

 

영주권 서류를 내고 나면 승인이 나기까지 오매불망 기다리는 시간이 정말 길게 느껴집니다. 더군다나 미국 내에서 체류여부가 불확실할 때는 더더욱 그렇죠. 저는 불안할 때마다 다른 분들이 공유해 주신 타임라인을 보며 많은 위로와 참고가 되었는데 제 포스팅이 영주권을 기다리는 다른 분들에게도 조금의 도움이 되었으면 좋겠습니다.
